Why QC Photos Matter
The numbers show why careful QC review is essential:
The QC Review Process
Follow this systematic process when reviewing QC photos:
- 1Download all QC photos to your device for better zoom and comparison
- 2Compare each photo against the original product listing images
- 3Check the overall shape and silhouette first — major shape issues are deal-breakers
- 4Zoom in on logos, text, and branding elements for accuracy
- 5Inspect stitching and construction quality at close range
- 6Check color accuracy under the QC lighting conditions
- 7Look for any damage, stains, or manufacturing defects
- 8If uncertain, request additional photos from specific angles
- 9Make your decision: approve, request more photos, or reject
Sneaker QC: What to Check
Sneakers require the most detailed QC review. Focus on these areas:
- Toe box shape — compare profile view against retail reference photos
- Heel counter — should be stiff and properly shaped, not collapsed
- Sole unit — check for clean edges, correct color, and proper cushioning shape
- Midsole — look for correct height, color, and any visible Air/Boost units
- Upper material — leather should look smooth and substantial, not plasticky
- Stitching — should be even, tight, and correctly colored
- Lace holes — should be evenly spaced with proper metal or plastic reinforcement
- Insole — check branding, cushioning thickness, and correct sizing marks
Clothing QC: What to Check
For hoodies, t-shirts, and other clothing items, focus on:
- Fabric texture — should look substantial and correctly textured in photos
- Logo and print quality — check for clean edges, correct colors, and proper placement
- Stitching — look for even seams with no loose threads or puckering
- Collar and cuffs — should be properly shaped and correctly ribbed
- Tags and labels — verify correct branding, sizing, and care instructions
- Overall shape — lay flat photos should show correct proportions
- Color accuracy — compare against listing photos, accounting for lighting differences
Red Flags: When to Reject
Some QC issues are minor and acceptable; others are deal-breakers. Here's how to tell the difference:
Always reject if you see: Incorrect colorway or model, major shape deformities, wrong size delivered, significant damage or stains, completely wrong item.
Consider rejecting if you see: Significant logo misalignment (more than 5mm off), obvious color inaccuracy, loose or unraveling stitching, visible glue marks on sneaker soles, fabric that looks significantly thinner than expected.
Usually acceptable: Minor lighting differences in photos, slight color variation within normal manufacturing tolerance, small imperfections that won't be visible when worn, minor stitching variations that don't affect durability.
How to Request Additional Photos
If the standard QC photos don't give you enough information to make a decision, you can request additional photos from KakoBuy. Be specific about what you want to see — "please photograph the left heel counter from the side" is much more useful than "please send more photos."
Common additional photo requests include: close-up of specific logos or text, comparison of both shoes side by side, photos of the insole removed, close-up of the sole edge, or photos under different lighting conditions. KakoBuy typically responds to additional photo requests within 24 hours.
